A NOTICE has been issued to travellers who have moved onto a site in Baxenden.

Hyndburn Council said that it will take legal action if the two caravans remain on Baxenden Recreational Ground.

The complaints come just days after Blackburn with Darwen Council gave notice for two caravans to leave Blacksnape Playing Fields in Darwen on Tuesday.

A Hyndburn Council spokesman said: “The matter was brought to our attention and we acted quickly to serve the travellers with notice to leave the recreational ground immediately.

"We wish to reassure residents that the Council will commence legal proceedings should the travellers remain”.

Police said they received calls of a 'nuisance' in Hollins Lane at around 5pm yesterday.

A police spokesman said: "We've called the council up to make them aware of the caravans and to see what enforcement action they will take".
