THE organiser of Great Harwood Farmers Market wants more young people to help the ‘struggling’ event.

Andrew Wallin took over the market last summer and wants more people in the area to support it.

The latest event will run from 10am until 2pm at the old town hall square on Sunday and stall holders are wanted for the monthly event.

Mr Wallin said: “It’s been struggling as a market since I took over.

“It is a strange one, because the foot fall last month was rubbish due to the bad weather but all the store holders did ok.

“The people who come seem to really enjoy it and spend, but there’s not enough young people, we need to target that market.

“I am still hoping I can grow the market as there has still been a lot of people who have said to me they didn’t know about it.

“We want more people to come along and get behind the town.”

The organiser has been putting up banners in Rishton to advertise the event.

Two new stalls will be coming to the market this month selling doughnuts and pies.

The market features nine stalls selling snacks, handmade cakes, perfume and fruit and vegetables.
