A CHARITY in Accrington is looking to use lottery funding to train new volunteers to give advice.
Maundy Relief Trust in Abbey Street received £300,000 Big Lottery funding at the end of last year to expand the support it gives to people with mental health problems, homelessness and addiction.
It now needs to train new volunteers in giving advice and supporting people in their own homes and is looking for people to help.
Manager Lucy Hardwick said: “Maundy Relief is a very exciting place to be at the moment and we are really grateful to the Big Lottery for seeing how important our work is to so many people who are now desperate.
“The funding will allow us to offer support to people who otherwise would have nowhere to turn, either causing them to become mentally unwell or making their existing problems much worse.”
