A RUNNER from Oswaldtwistle has targeted events later in the year to boost his fundraising after completing his latest 10k run.

Antony Mathews is looking to raise £2,017 in 2017 for East Lancashire Hospice in memory of family friend Teresa Cole who was treated by the hospice before her death.

The main source of his fundraising has been completing 10k runs, and he achieved a personal best of sub 50 minutes at the Heaton Park event last weekend.

However the 32-year-old said fundraising had stalled recently, and is targetting bigger challenges to try and raise money.

The dad-of-three said: “The fundraising seems to have come to a bit of a standstill. There’s a lot going in the area the moment, so I’m hoping that things will pick up.

“I’m thinking of trying something a bit different, you can only do so many 10k’s and expect people to donate.

“I’m thinking of maybe doing a sponsored climb, it’s something different and more exciting.

“I’m targetting a half marathon as well, it’ll be a bigger task.”
