CCTV images have been released of a man wanted by police in connection with a ‘frightening’ off-licence robbery in Oswaldtwistle.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a lone female shop assistant was threatened at Bargain Booze in Union Road.

Police said the man walked into the shop at around 7.45pm on Wednesday and browsed the shelves, before approaching the counter.

Officers said he left the premises with several hundred pounds.

The robber was described as a white man in his mid-20s, around 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build.

The shop assistant was not injured but officers said she was left shaken.

"There were also several pedestrians and drivers in the area at the time this incident occurred and we would urge anybody who saw what happened to contact us."
