A TEENAGER suffered serious injuries after he was thrown from his bike and hit a dry stone wall last night. 

The 19-year-old suffered head injuries, a broken cheekbone, a broken shoulder and a broken bone in his back and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening, police say. 

The crash happened near William Blythe just off Blackburn Road in Church where the motorcyclist is believed to have lost control on a right hand bend. 

Police are appealing for witnesses. 

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured following a collision in Accrington.

"At shortly before 8pm last night (Wednesday, October 5) a Honda motorcycle was travelling along Blackburn Road when it is believed to have lost control on a right hand bend.

"The motorcyclist, a 19 year old man from Accrington, was thrown from the bike and collided with a dry stone wall.

"The road was closed for three and a half hours for a full examination of the scene."

PS Tracey Ward of the Road Policing Unit said: "This collision has left a young man with serious injuries are we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact us."
