CCTV footage has been released of a burglar throwing a concrete slab through a chip shop window before making off with a charity box containing ‘no more than five or six pounds’.
Police in Hyndburn released the footage after the burglary was captured on CCTV at the Abbey Friar Chip Shop on Abbey Street, Accrington.
The break in happened at 1.50am on Sunday, September 11.
A man is captured approaching the front of the shop and trying the door to the premises without success.
He returns a short time later, throwing a large slab of stone at the plate glass window next to the door.
The window smashed, causing £800 worth of damage.
He then briefly entered the takeaway, stealing the charity box which contained a small amount of cash being collected for Sunny Days Children's Fund, which raises funds to help children under the age of 18 with a wide range of adverse medical conditions.
