A MAN has been arrested follow a police chase through Accrington and Church.


Police said they were initially called to Warwick Road in Blackburn on Thursday morning to a reports that a man had taken a Ford Fiesta off the driveway, along with an iPhone and £60 cash.


The car was later seen by police in Blackburn Road Accrington, at at around 9.45pm but the driver failed to stop when told to do so by officers.


Police said he then drove off at speed but abandoned his car in Church Street, Church.

After being chased by officers on foot the man was caught and arrested.


PC Hesketh said: "Towards the end of our shift we were on the look-out for a car that had been stolen that had been seen in the Accrington area. 


"On spotting the stolen car in Blackburn Road, the driver drove off at speed leading us on a chase into the town centre and back out towards the Church area where the driver abandoned the car in Church Street and was then chased on foot by officers.


"The driver was swiftly detained and was arrested for numerous motoring offences and the car has since been returned to its rightful owner. 


"The incident was recorded on my body worn video camera, leaving no question over exactly how the stolen vehicle was drive, yet another great example of how technology is changing the way we police, and the way we can confidently bring offenders to justice."


A 33-year-old man from Blackburn arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and was being questioned by police yesterday (Friday).
