The incident, which happened at around 9pm on Sunday, March 20, saw stones and bottles thrown at the crews with one damaging the windscreen of a fire engine.
The fire, in wasteland near the Matalan store, was put out before the crews left the scene.
When they were called back to the scene a short time after the fire service was accompanied by the police who were also attacked.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Attacks on fire fighters are mercifully rare but this is worrying none the less.
"This is not a problem area for us as there has not been an attack since Bonfire Night but it's still concerning.
"This time nobody was hurt but these incidents have the potential to put crew members and engines out of action which could have an affect on members of the public who actually need us."
No arrests have been made and the investigation is on-going.
