Tickets, priced £20, go on sale this morning from manfordscomedyclub.com.

Lauren Stirzaker, events manager at the venue said: “We are delighted to welcome one of the country’s top comedy talents. It is a real coup for us and tickets are sure to be in great demand.”

Manford’s Comedy Club is run by TV comedian and West End star Jason Manford. Every month he and his brother Colin select up-and-coming stand-ups to perform in Oswaldtwistle.

The venue has gained such a good reputation for comedy that many of the acts who have appeared there have declared it their favourite comedy club night in the country.

Last year Jason himself performed a special show to mark the club’s first anniversary.

This year, Colin Manford will compere the anniversary show which also features Phil Walker and Tom Lucy.

“We have got a great relationship with the team at Manford’s,” said Lauren, “and the monthly Sunday comedy club nights have really captured the public’s imagination.

“We now get a large, dedicated band of regulars who come every month and it is great that Jason has persuaded John Bishop to come along and make the anniversary show even more special.

“The comedy club will move into the larger civic theatre auditorium for the anniversary night to allow as many comedy lovers to attend as possible.”
