POLICE are investigating reports that a man was forced into the boot of a car before it was driven off.

The incident is alleged to have happened in the Milnshaw Park area of Accrington between 4.30pm and 5pm on Friday.

Officers said they were looking for a silver car, possibly a Nissan or Vauxhall, in connection with the allegations.

Witnesses reported seeing forensic teams examining a field close to the park on Friday evening and door-to-door enquiries were made on the following day.

Police said they had not received any reports of any missing persons and no arrests had been made.

Yesterday, there was evidence of tyre tracks across the field but it was not clear whether they were related to the incident.

Police said the investigation was ongoing.

Detective Inspector Eric Halford said: “On Friday evening at around 4.30pm to 5pm we received information about a suspicious incident in the Milnshaw Park area.

“Witnesses reported seeing a man forced into the boot of a car on Milnshaw Park before driving off.

“The car is described as possibly being silver and a Nissan or Vauxhall.

“To help us identify those involved I’m appealing for any witnesses who may have seen what has occurred or have any information to contact us.”
