A COUPLE had a lucky escape after their house was struck by lightning.

Firefighters were called to the house on Skipton Old Road in Colne at 5.12pm where it is believed lightning struck a TV aerial and filled the house with smoke.

The couple who were in an upstairs bedroom at the time are said to have been left in shock after the incident.

Two appliances from Colne FIre Station attended and isolated the electrics of the house and a neighbouring property.

Fortunately, nobody was injured.

Watch manager Richard Taylor, said: "They were very lucky. Usually it causes a lot more damage.”

Firefighters left after an hour.
