ACCRINGTON Stanley fans who have bought their 2015/16 season tickets in advance have been rewarded for their loyalty – with phone calls from their heroes.

Players at the club, which has secured its Football League status for the ninth successive season, hit the phones to thank fans for their commitment.

Defender Nicky Hunt was among those filmed calling supporters from an office at the Store First Stadium.

The club uploaded several short clips to social networking sites Vine and Twitter.

Stanley skipper Luke Joyce, 27, was recorded telling one season ticket holder, identified only as Maureen: “I just wanted to give you a call to thank you for renewing your season ticket.

“You’re coming from Aberdeen? We best make sure we win then.”

More than 400 season tickets were sold during the April earlybird period, a club spokesman confirmed.

He said: “As a result of the high demand, season tickets continued to be available at April prices until full-time on Saturday.”

Adult tickets were priced at £200, with those for over-65s and students set at £150. Season tickets for under-18s were £100, while accompanied under-12s could pick up a ticket for £20.

That means adult fans taking advantage of the earlybird offer will pay just £8.70 per game for the Reds’ 23 home fixtures in the next campaign.

Fans’ director, Joe Cirino, said: “The board have taken into account many variables in coming to this decision and hope that our supporters will understand the financial constraints on the club and take this into consideration.

Accrington Stanley would really like to think that in this momentous season, in which we celebrate a decade back in the Football League, we could reach new heights in the sales of season tickets.

“We know that all supporters are different, so whether you choose to sit or stand, behind the goal or in the Jack Barrett Stand, prices are the same across the board.”

On-the-gate admission prices will also be frozen at 2014/15 levels for the new campaign: £20 for adults, £15 for OAPs and students, £10 for under-18s and £5 for accompanied under-12s.
