A MAN who kicked in the door and entered a Rishton house uninvited got his comeuppance at the hands of the female occupant.

Blackburn magistrates heard Leah Grogan attacked Paul Robert Smith, punching him repeatedly and knocking him to the floor.

The court heard that while Smith was on the floor she kneed him in the face twice before he managed to get to his feet and run from the house.

But Miss Grogan hadn’t finished with the intruder and gave chase, punching him in the face again.

Smith, 25, of Lynwood Avenue, Darwen, pleaded guilty to damaging a front door belonging to Leah Grogan. He was ordered to pay £300 compensation, £85 costs and £150 Criminal Courts Charge under new legislation which came into force last week.

Dominic Howells, prosecuting, said Miss Grogan was at home when she heard a loud bang and went to the front door to find Smith inside her home. The front door had been damaged and Smith shouted abuse.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said Miss Grogan had dished out a bit of rough justice of her own.

“My client is a big, strapping lad but she attacked him with some ferocity,” said Mr Taylor.

“To his credit he didn’t retaliate in any way.”
