AN ACCRINGTON mum-of-two has spoken of her delight after a second big lottery win in the space of two years.

Hospital worker Joanne Gregory, who lives with her partner Ian and their children Ellie, 12, and Robert, eight, has won £1,000 in East Lancashire Hospice’s weekly draw – this followed a previous a windfall in October 2013.

Her win came just days before a Scunthorpe couple won their second £1 million in the EuroMillions lottery — at odds of 283 billion to one.

The 44-year-old said: “When I heard in the news that the couple from Scunthorpe won twice on the Euromillions, it just shows that like me, just because you win once, doesn’t mean you can’t win again.

“When I got the call it didn’t click at all that I might have won a lottery prize again.

“I have supported the hospice’s lottery for a long time and when my colleagues were winning small amounts here and there I even thought about checking my number was still in the draw each week – then I won the first £1,000.

“But I really didn’t expect to win again.”

Joanne, who works in the pharmacy at Royal Blackburn Hospital, added: “It’s come at a good time for us.

“I can treat the kids over Easter and it will pay for me to have some work done on my car as well as treating myself a little too.”

Last Friday, Dave and Kathleen Long, won their second £1 million on the EuroMillions after first scooping the big money prize in July 2013.

Mr Long said he “just knew it would be my turn again some day” as the couple become the first people to win £1 million twice who have gone public.

And the former lorry driver has not ruled out winning for a third time despite being perplexed at being labelled the luckiest man in Britain.

East Lancashire Hospice’s lottery costs £1 to play.

Players currently stand a chance of winning a rollover prize of £8,250 in next Friday’s draw.
