POLICE are appealing for any witnesses after an assault in a pub in Accrington last month.

The incident happened at around 10.15pm on Tuesday, 28 October at the Railway pub on Blackburn Road.

It is believed that a 38-year-old woman was attacked whilst in the toilets of the pub by another woman.

She was left with serious bite injuries to her face and left ear, with part of her lobe being completely severed.

She was also left with scratches, bruising and clumps of hair missing from her head.

Officers are keen to trace any other woman that may have been in the toilets at the time of the incident.

DC Neil Pugh of Blackburn Police said: “This was a nasty attack and I would urge any woman that may have seen what happened to get in touch with us to help us with our enquiries.”

A 44-year-old local woman was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent and was bailed until December pending further enquiries.
