The first burglary happened on Sunday (17 August) at around 7pm. Fourteen pairs of football boots and some orange flavour sports drinks were taken from the dressing room.

The second theft took place between 12.10am and 12.45am on Tuesday (19 August). The burglars got into the club dressing room after forcing a lock. A further five pairs of football boots were stolen.

Police said the lock was also broken on the kit room, from which 15 footballs were taken, as well as two catering vans, from which drinks and chocolate were snatched.

Officers think the thieves used a wheelbarrow to carry the items away.

Sgt Dave Clarke from Lancashire Police said: “We believe it is no coincidence that the club was broken into twice during a short time and so we are appealing to anyone who may have any information about these incidents to get in contact with us.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
