AN Oswaldtwistle woman died after long-term alcohol abuse left her body unable to cope with the prescription drugs she was taking, Blackburn Coroner’s Court heard.

Lisa Murray, 37, was found slumped on her kitchen floor after her son, Jack, rang police after becoming concerned for her wellbeing.

A neighbour discovered her body after climbing through an upstairs window because police could not break down her door, the court heard.

She was pronounced dead at the scene on August 5.

Her father, Michael, told the inquest his daughter had a history of alcohol abuse, was taking several prescribed medications for back pain and her mental health, and had collapsed in Union Road a week before her death.

Pathologist Dr Aslam told the court Miss Murray’s post mortem examination revealed a fatty liver, which would not have been able to properly process the medicines.

Recording a verdict of drugs related death, coroner Michael Singleton said: “It’s not in the natural order of things for your children to die before you. I won’t pretend I can understand what you’re going through because I can’t.”
