THE first annual ball for a charity set up in the memory of a well respected Accrington woman is set to take place in October.

Long-term fundraiser and ‘life changer’ Denise Ward, 56, died in December after a short illness.

Her close friend Sarah Barton said: “She did lots for local people, not just fundraising but also changing the lives of people.

“She was a school nursery nurse for over 25 years and ran a Brownie and Guide group until weeks before she died.”

Denise’s Dos was launched in her memory, and will host its first ball at the Adelaide Suite, Accrington on Friday, October 4.

A five-course dinner will be served at around 7pm and guests can enjoy a cabaret.

Tickets cost £30 and it is a black tie event.
