A TOTAL of 94 residents near an East Lancashire waste landfill site have started legal proceedings against its operators.
Solicitors acting for people living near the Whinney Hill Road tip in Altham near Accrington have written to Sita UK informing them of their intention to mount a court claim over claims of foul smells.
Lawyer Rhian Morgan said her aim was to end the problem with a secondary claim for compensation for past problems caused by odours. Sita UK said: “All operations are undertaken in line with robust environmental legislation.”
Hugh James Solicitors will answer residents’ questions at an open day at Accrington Stanley Football Club from 2pm to 8pm today.
