HYNDBURN MP Graham Jones has welcomed the start of building work on Great Harwood’s long awaited new health centre.

He believes the 1,700 square metre complex will bring 21st Century health care facilities to the town.

The centre is larger than the building it replaced and will be able to deliver more services such as minor operations locally in pleasant surroundings.

Mr Jones said: “Having campaigned for two years for Great Harwood Health Centre I am delighted that construction vehicles are now on site.”

Great Harwood Labour councillor Kerry Molyneux said: “I was very excited when I stepped outside the door, to take the children to school this morning, to find a digger and a wagon on the ground of the new health centre.

“I am so proud of the work everyone involved has done to be able to achieve what was felt to be impossible, by bringing the new health centre into fruition.”
