HISTORIC football memorabilia involving both Burnley FC and Accrington Stanley are set to go under the hammer next month.

Among the items up for sale is a rare programme from Stanley’s last football match before they resigned from the league when the club folded in 1962.

The Crewe Alexandra away programme dated March 2, 1962, is in excellent condition with no team changes.

The club resigned from the top levels of football after this match and remained outside the league until their triumphant return in 2006.

There are also 10 Burnley FC lots for sale including 57/58 and 58/59 season complete home programmes and a programme from former manager Billy Dougall’s testimonial.

Bid for the lots will be taken during the sale of the private collection on Monday, February 11 at Stacey’s Auction Rooms in Rayleigh, Essex.

But fans can bid for the items online during the sale.

Lois King, from Stacey’s, said: “In the case of Burnley, we have 10 lots include a complete run of home programmes from the first post-war season 1946-67, as well as further complete sets of home programmes from the 1950s, 60s and 70s.

“The Accrington lots should also provide a lot of interest because it includes the programme from their final competitive match versus Crewe Alexandra.”

Other quirky items on sale at next month’s auction include legendary Leeds United and England manager Don Revie's original This is Your Life red book – presented to him after he was on the show.
