A MUM has recycled her old keep fit resolutions to launch an unofficial bootcamp in her local park.

Mum-of-three Sally Randall had a garage full of fitness equipment after past keep-fit pledges fell by the wayside.

Sally, from Rishton, realised all she needed was some support, so she asked her friends to join her in free boot-camp sessions every Sunday at Cutwood Park.

Now the Facebook page for the venture, Sally’s Sunday Bootcamp, is being followed by 50 local fans, and a dozen loyal bootcampers are showing up weekly in wet January weather.

The bootcamp, which began in November as untrained friends supp-orting each other, has even attracted offers from army personal trainers to take charge for free.

Sally said she got the idea to ask a few friends to work out after taking part in some bootcamps, which cost her £25 for five sessions.

She said: “Don’t get me wrong, they were brilliant bootcamps it’s just that it’s a lot of money when you add it all up. I’m a single mum, so I have to be careful. I also had some equipment already, so I thought I should be using that. I didn’t want to exercise alone. I also thought I probably wasn’t the only one in need of a bit of motivation.

“Although I am not trained, I thought where is the harm in some friends getting together to work out and support one another?”

Sally, a receptionist at North West Motor Specialists garage, in Great Harwood, was even able to talk her employers into giving her some tyres for bootcampers to hold overhead while running.

Sally said: “It’s def-initely more fun than working out alone. Sometimes it rains and we get a bit muddy, but we’re having an amazing time.

“Word has really spread and when people get in touch, they expect to pay but it is absolutely free. I have a friend who is a personal trainer in the army and he volunteered to take a session which is great. Personal trainers have got in touch, and I’ve said if they are willing to vol-unteer their time for free, we’re happy to have them. Everyone is wel-come.

“The more, the merrier.”

Sally’s Sunday Bootcamp is at Cutwood Park, Rishton, at 3.30pm every Sunday. A special guest personal trainer is taking bootcamp on January 27. For more details, visit www.facebook.com/ pages/Sallys-Sunday-Bootcamp
