A MAN is in hospital with serious head injuries after being beaten in an Accrington street.
Police were called to Blackburn Road in Accrington at 11.45pm last night (Tuesday) after a call from the ambulance service reported that a 21-year-old man had been beaten.
The victim was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.
A police spokeswoman said: “His head injuries are not thought to be too serious, but he is still in hospital.
“Following the call, Blackburn Road was identified as the crime scene and a road closure was put in place.
“This morning we have arrested a 31-year-old man from Accrington on suspicion of section 18 assault and he is currently in custody.”
Police enquiries are ongoing, and the road has now reopened.
