Accrington firm designs uniform for 16,000 staff

First published in Hyndburn

AN ACCRINGTON workwear company has designed a uniform for a large care home operator to create a more homely environment for residents.

Kwintet’s new range, which will be rolled out to care home provider HC-One’s 16,000 staff this month, has been specifically designed to move away from the clinical look traditionally favoured, towards a more hospitality-inspired uniform.

Helen Harker, head of design at Kwintet, said: “When designing the workwear range, our main consideration was to create a uniform that would provide the necessary functionality for a clinical environment, without the ‘medical’ feel.

“In line with this, the crisp, modern design was inspired by the contemporary beauty and hospitality sectors.”

She added: “In terms of colour, studies have shown that the use of different shades can have an impact both on mood and recuperation times, particularly in older people.”

To Paperboy70, interesting you say about the recuperation times and mood, its a hotly debated subject, I have been personally researching this recently due to buying workwear for my staff and have looked at the historic parts of the workwear unifrom like schools etc. These guys write a good blog with sourced factual information http://www.krowmarkw
orkwear.com some useful facts and figures on there especially regarding motivation of staff.

Im going to keep reading though before I make my mind up...
