A MAN who indecently exposed himself to a pensioner while she was out with her dog is being sought by police.

A 66-year-old woman was walking her regular route, along the tow path of the Leeds-Liverpool canal, close to Atlas Street, in Clayton-le-Moors when she was approached by the man.

He greeted the woman close to where the canal passes beneath the M65 motorway and Blackburn Road, and engaged her in conversation by asking if she had a cigarette.

The victim said he was articulate and polite but, after talking to her for some time, dropped his trousers and exposed himself.

Shaken by the incident, the pensioner quickly walked away.

The flasher then pulled up his tracksuit bottoms and set off again towards Altham.

PC Peter Norris, from Hyndburn Police, said: “The path was reasonably busy with walk-ers, so I would appeal to anyone in the area at the time, or with information regarding the offender, to make contact with me at Accrington Police station.”

The flasher is described as white, aged around 20 years old, around 5ft 6ins tall, and of average build.

He had dark hair, with a long fringe over his forehead, and was wearing white trainers, grey tracksuit bottoms, and a red T-shirt under a dark ‘North Face’ jacket.

Details of the incident which took place at around 3.15pm, on Nov-ember 12, have only just been released by police.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101.
