FIREFIGHTERS had to free a two-week-old baby hamster from its wooden bedding house after it got its head stuck.

Fire crews were asked to help the little animal after its owner brought it to Hyndburn fire station at 10am on Monday, after being unable to free it.

They used an axe saw to cut open the house and free the brown and white hamster, which was one of a litter of 10 that has yet to be named.
