A MAN in his 20s is believed to have been attacked in a back lane in Clayton-le-Moors.

Police were called to the rear of Barnes Street at around 8.30am yesterday after being alerted by the ambulance service that the man appeared to have been assaulted.

But police have so far been unable to determine what happened to the victim as he suffers from memory loss and has not been able to give them a statement.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “We attended and there was a male who who was conscious and breathing but it looked like he had been a victim of an assault.

“He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with injuries consistent with being assaulted but this person suffers from memory loss so he cannot remember anything of what happened.

“We have made inquiries and officers have arranged with his mum to go and see him at his home.

“His mum believes some of his memory might come back when he has had a chance to rest.”

Anyone with information about the matter should contact police on 101.
