A MAN who decided to stand up to someone who had bullied him for more than two years ended up being arrested.

Blackburn magistrates heard Anthony Alltree and his tormentor were squaring up to each other when police arrived.

But Alltree continued to shout abuse and threats, even after the police had taken control of the situation and told him to calm down.

Alltree, 22, of Somerset Grove, Accrington, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour.

He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months, and ordered to pay £60 costs.

Gareth Price, defending, said his client had reported several incidents to the police which involved the other man.

“This man had bullied him for two years and when he saw him on this day he decided enough was enough,” said Mr Price.

“He stood up to the other man.

“If he had heeded the police advice and walked away, he would not have appeared in court.”
