AN EAST Lancashire council has earned a second ‘gold standard’ award for keeping down vehicle emissions.

Hyndburn Council has again been awarded the Gold Motorvate Scheme by the Energy Savings Trust. The award is as a result of steps they‘ve taken to slash the emissions from council vehicles.

Speaking about the award, deputy council leader Munsif Dad said: “This is great news, we’ve worked hard to become greener and we are thrilled to achieve the Gold Motorvate status again by cutting our fleet emissions by a massive 42.2 per cent in the last six years.”

The scheme awards gold to councils who have achieved 15 per cent cuts or more.
