How can I talk to doctor about erectile problems?

Q. I’m 56 and happily married. Recently I’ve had trouble starting and keeping up an erection, and my wife wants me to see our doctor about it. Problem is she is a young woman, and I’m embarrassed about it. How can I talk to her about something so personal? She may not be able to help anyway.

Is foot pain a muscle or ligament strain?

Q. I have been jogging regularly for the last few years, taking part in 10 kilometre and half marathon runs. Recently I’ve had a pain in the middle of my left foot that is worse when running, but never really goes away completely even when I’m resting. Could this be a muscle or ligament strain, and what can I do to ease it? I don’t want to stop my running unless I really have to.

Does my 12-year-old with arthritis need so many tests?

Q. My 12-year old daughter has developed arthritis in her knees and ankles, and has been put on methotrexate. It seems to be helping her a lot, but she has blood tests every week while on it. Must she really have so many tests? She hates the needles, and it’s always a struggle to get her to go to the doctor.

Q. I’ve had a pain in my back for weeks that my doctor calls lumbago. I can’t sit and it stops me from sleeping. When I put weight on my foot I get hip pain. I’ve tried painkillers, rubs and hot water bottles. What else can I do for myself?
