GPs at a Blackburn surgery are prescribing involvement in community associations as well as medication.
Bentham Road Health Centre, Mill Hill, was asked by the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), to pioneer the Happy Healthy Communities scheme.
Under the scheme doctors can refer patients to groups that can support their wider health and wellbeing, such as keep fit, counselling, learning a new skill or just a social event.
