East Lancashire hospitals fail in patient satisfaction

THE trust which runs hospitals in East Lancashire is failing to meet patients’ expectations over involvement in their own care plans, a survey has shown.

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) scored 79 per cent satisfaction in patient involvement in medicine, and 82 per cent for involvement in surgery, against a target of 90 per cent.

Val Bertenshaw, director of operations, said: “The issues surround involving people in plans of their care.

“We are almost at 80 per cent in medicine, so we’re not doing poorly, but we do need to do a bit of extra work.”
