Events to celebrate National breastfeeding week

A RANGE of events are running across East Lancashire to celebrate National Breastfeeding Week from June 25 to 29.

In 2011/12, breastfeeding initiation in East Lancashire was almost 70 per cent, compared to the national figure of 74 per cent, and mothers still breastfeeding at 6-8 weeks was around 34 per cent, compared to 47 per cent nationally.

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) hope to address the drop off with the help of their infant feeding teams who will be offering advice on: Saturday, June 23 from 1.30-3.30pm at Mothercare, Blackburn Tuesday, June 27 from 1-3pm, a pinic in Witton Park.

Wednesday, June 28 from 11am-2pm, a walk and picnic in Sunnyhurst Wood, Darwen.

Thursday, June 29 from 9am-12pm, Asda, Blackburn.
