East Lancashire striking doctors will lose day’s pay

DOCTORS who take part in today’s national strike over pensions will have their pay withheld by East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Ian Brandwood, human resources director for ELHT, said: “Whilst the trust respects an individual’s right to take part in the industrial action, it will potentially affect their pay.

"Those doctors that do take part will have their full pay withheld for that day.

“We do recognise however that a number of doctors who take part in the action will be undertaking urgent or emergency work in accordance with the BMA guidance.

“The allocation of this work, such as helping out in the emergency department or Urgent Care Centre, and any cancellation of elective work, will be directed by divisional teams.

“Those doctors that have indicated they are taking industrial action but undertake emergency or urgent work will be required to submit a timesheet for the day to their divisional director.”
