CANCER awareness roadshow staff have thanked women who take part in Race for Life for cancer charity.

The team of nurses, who brought their Cancer Research UK cancer awareness roadshow to Burnley last week, will pull up in Blackburn town hall square tomorrow (Tuesday, May 29) and Wednesday, May 30.

The roadshow also returns to the same location on Tuesday, June 19 and, Wednesday, June 20.

Nurses Louise Dewhurst and Helen Higham will be on duty between 10am and 4pm offering information about how to spot cancer symptoms early – when treatment is more likely to be successful.

The nurses will talk to visitors about how to help reduce the risk of cancer by making positive health changes such as quitting smoking or cutting down on alcohol.

Louise, who has worked for Cancer Research UK as a Cancer Awareness Nurse for three years, said: “The roadshow sees nurses and volunteers talking to members of the public and giving out information about how to spot cancer sooner and offering suggestions about how they can make healthy lifestyle changes to help stack their odds against cancer.

“We’d like to send a huge thank you to everyone in Blackburn and East Lancashire who has taken part in Race for Life or sponsored a friend."

This year’s Race for Life in Blackburn takes place at Witton Park on Wednesday, June 27.
