ADVICE has been issued about strokes and services available for patients.
The new Stroke Information Guide provides information for stroke patients and their families/carers about the potentially deadly condition.
It covers five key areas which include:
• Understanding stroke-related terms
• Preventing a first stroke or further strokes
• Time in hospital
• Survivorship and recovery
• Local contact information
Susan Schofield, who runs the Stroke Association volunteer group FUN4STROKE in Burnley, said: "I have found the new Stroke Information Guide to be very informative.
"The guide is clearly laid out with links to take you straight to where you need to go to access the information you need, when you need it.”
Figures show 901 people died from a stroke in East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen between 2013 and 2015.
The guide is available online at Healthier and Lancashire South Cumbria by visiting the website www.healthierlsc.co.uk/stroke-guide
