CALLS have been made for people to get tested for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) for Valentine's Day.

The message comes from Lancashire Care Foundation Trust's sexual health service, who have urged people of all ages to stay safe.

Typically, people will plan romantic evenings out or quiet nights in on Valentine's Day (February 14).

Health chiefs said unplanned and unprotected sex could therefore take place if people are not careful.

They said this increases the risk of unwanted pregancies and catching STIs.

Lancashire Care's CaSH service has encouraged people to be prepared and get in touch for advice on contraception or for information about STIs.

The team hold daytime and evening clinics for people of all ages, as well as services for young people under 25.
