A HEALTH watchdog has received an excellence award for a pilot scheme designed to give care home residents a stronger voice.
Healthwatch Lancashire has been singled out by East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group for a successful trial scheme which saw staff visit a number of care homes across Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Ribble Valley and Rossendale.
Staff from the NHS watchdog were able to give independent and impartial feedback on care home services across the five boroughs.
Sheralee Turner-Birchall, the organisation’s chief executive, said: “It is wonderful to gain recognition for our outstanding and creative methods of delivering programmes of work to capture the voice of the people and to be able to influence service improvement and showcase best practice.”
