A HEALTH watchdog has issued an appeal for more keen pairs of eyes after moving into a new HQ in East Lancashire.

Bosses at Healthwatch Blackburn with Darwen are hopeful their switch from Guide to Kings Court, in King Street, will place them at the heart of the town.

And to coincide with the relocation, the organisation is looking to recruit extra assistance to ensure it can monitor the borough’s health provisions.

Andy Griffiths, chief executive, said Healthwatch had devised a challenging work plan, for the next 12 months, which includes looking at provisions for offenders, asylum seekers and refugees, young people with eating disorders, veterans and the accident and emergency service.

He added: “We know that health and social care services are under increasing pressure.

"As a Healthwatch we want to ensure that residents of Blackburn with Darwen have access to the right treatment at the right time in a safe way

“In order for us to do this we need members of the public to get involved and help us deliver our objectives.

“This is a real opportunity to help shape future services in the local area.”
