A FORMER hospital management consultant in East Lancashire – who sparked fury after the Telegraph revealed she was on £1,000 a day – has been suspended from one of her next major roles.
Dr Paula Vasco Knight worked on a number of ‘quality and efficiency’ projects for East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust between July 2014 and July 2015, with her final bill prompting controversy with health campaigners, amid concerns over payouts to non-medical consultants.

Following her East Lancashire stint, Dr Vasco Knight was taken on as acting chief executive of St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Just under a fortnight after her appointment, ‘serious financial allegations’ were made relating to a previous employment.
Jonathan Wood, ELHT’s finance director, has confirmed that the probe does not relate to her time working for the trust.
A St George’s trust spokesman said: “As a result of serious allegations being made against her, Dr Paula Vasco-Knight has been suspended from her role as acting chief executive.
"The allegations are financial in nature and relate to her work at a previous employer.”
Her role at another trust, South Devon Healthcare, came to an abrupt end when she resigned amid claims of nepotism and the organisation was found to have victimised two whistleblowers.
