KNITTERS in Haslingden want to shake off the pastime's dowdy image as they relaunch a popular social club.

Haslingden Library is the new home for the Knit and Natter group, which has just celebrated its first birthday in the town.

The organisers are keen to invite new members to their Thursday afternoon get-togethers, from 1pm.

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council, which runs the Deardengate library, said: "If you enjoy creating new things from knitting, crocheting, or any other craft, Knit and Natter would love to welcome you into their group.
