PEOPLE are invited to mark the longest day of the year by joining a fund-raising walk for East Lancashire Hospice.
Following the success of the charity's Midnight Walk last year, when over 800 women braved unseasonably bad weather to raise £80,000, the hospice has arranged the Summer Solstice Walk around Blackburn.
Due to popular demand, the number of entrants has been almost doubled to 1,500, and it has been opened up to men and children.

Ten per cent of registrations will be allocated to men, and children from the age of 10 can take part if accompanied by an adult.
The 13-mile walk will start and finish at Ewood Park, setting off at 10pm on Saturday June 21, to return about breakfast time on June 22.
Everyone who walks will receive a specially-designed 2008 T-shirt, goody bag, medal on completion, refreshments and breakfast served by the catering team at Ewood Park.
A spokesman for the hospice said: "Last year, hundreds of people completed the walk in appalling weather conditions, but everyone enjoyed it so much that this time around we are making it bigger and better, and we are hoping to raise even more money.
"Everyone is welcome. All walkers are encouraged to seek as much sponsorship as possible from family, friends and work colleagues. This can be in memory of a loved one or just in support if this much-needed community service."
Entry is strictly by application only and all walkers must be registered by May 30 - you cannot register on the night.
Registration costs £15, and all walkers are asked to raise at least £10 in sponsorship.
Once registered each will receive a personalised sponsorship form.
Everyone who takes part must be reasonably fit and used to walking, but training programmes will be available to everyone who undertakes the walk, available at www.elh.org.uk
