A MOTORIST who gave police a fake insurance document claimed he had bought it for £35 from a door to door salesman.
Burnley magistrates heard how Naeem Mustafa, 30, was trying to get out of being convicted of having no insurance - but now he had not only been convicted of that but he had also got a dishonesty conviction.
Mustafa, of St Paul's Road, Nelson, was fined £250, with £670 costs. He had earlier admitted using a false instrument and been convicted of no insurance.
David Leach, defending, said Mustafa produced a cover note to police and there was no degree of sophistication.
