ONE of East Lancashire’s top students, who secured three A* in chemistry, mathematics and physics, was rejected by Oxford University.
Peter Clayton, 18, from Langho, was turned down after failing their entrance exam.
He is now off to Durham University.
His principal at St Mary's College Kevin McMahon said: “We do feel that Peter has slipped through the net and Oxford has missed out on an exceptional student.”
The former St Augustine’s RC High School student said: “I’m not disappointed or disheartened at all.
They have their way of doing things.
“I am just shocked.
"I didn’t think I would get A*s.
“I’m excited about going to university.”
