Facebook is now link for Lancashire schools to parents

SCHOOL governors in Lancashire were told how schools are using internet social-networking sites to contact parents.
During the 18th annual Lancashire Association of Governing Bodies conference, headteachers told how they used Facebook to communicate with parents.
Heads told of the developments as part of this year’s theme Learning in the 21st Century.
They described the highly secure Facebook page as an ‘invaluable’ tool as they could upload photographs, video clips, links to newspaper reports as well as videos of the children.
The conference was opened by Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for children and schools and the keynote speaker was Professor Sir Tim Brighouse, who spoke about the shift of power of schools from local authorities to central government.
