Darwen academy rumours slammed
1:30pm Friday 8th June 2012 in News
THE principal of a Darwen Aldridge Community Academy (DACA) said rumours that the building is sinking are ‘unfounded’ and children will not be moved back to the old site.
Widespread stories had been circulating through the town that cracks were appearing in the £35million Sudell Road site, which opened in September 2008.
The rumours also said that pupils at DACA would transfer back to the former Darwen Moorland High School site at Holden Fold once it is vacated by Darwen Vale High School.
Principal Brendan Loughran slammed the rumours.
He said: “It is rubbish. These rumours are unfounded. Parents do not need to worry about going to Holden Fold. We are going nowhere.”
Rumours have been circulating for some time, but there has been no official notification to parents that their children may be moved.
Blackburn with Darwen Council, which owns the Holden Fold site, also denied that there were any plans to move pupils.
