SCHOOLCHILDREN have been helping to improve road safety outside their schools by speaking to parents and taxi drivers who park on yellow lines.
The pupils have been helping to drive home the message in Darwen about the dangers of parking outside schools.
PC Mark Edwards, community beat manager for Darwen, was joined by pupils at St Joseph’s RC Primary School to highlight the problem of parents and taxis parking on the zig-zag lines when dropping children off.
The pupils, with a clipboard in hand, carried out checks to ensure motorists were parking safely outside the school in Limes Avenue.
The action follows public concern voiced at community meetings including Neighbourhood Watch and PACT.
