THE performance of primary school pupils in recent national tests have been commended by County Hall bosses.

County Cllr Susie Charles, said: "Once again, the Key Stage two results are pleasing.

"Our primary school children are doing well, with a result of 61 per cent in the key areas of reading, writing and maths.

"This is above the regional average of 60 per cent, and is definitely something we can be proud of.

"Lancashire results are also in line with the national average.

"This shows what excellent work our schools are doing throughout the county, and it is great to see Lancashire children performing well.

"This is backed up by the latest Ofsted figures showing that 94 per cent of Lancashire's primary age pupils attend schools that have been judged to be good or outstanding compared to the national average of 90 per cent, and the North West average of 92 per cent."
