A SCHOOLGIRL got to spend two days in a factory making her design come to life after triumphing in a competition.

Year seven Darwen Vale student Ellie Gaynor was successful in the school’s banner competition which was launched in co-operation with textiles company Herbert Parkinson’s.

Her Remembrance banner, which will hang in the school, honours those who lost their lives in war.

Ellie had to pitch her banner to a group of judges from Parkinson’s management team.

She then oversaw the whole operation, from design to finishing at the factory.

A spokeswoman for the school said: “All the staff who she came into contact with complimented Ellie on not only her creative edge but also her determination and organising skills in bringing the whole project together.

“The finished banner will hang proudly in school, and will play a prominent part in the school’s annual remembrance assembly.

“It’s great to see the finished banner and a huge thanks not only to Ellie for her hard work and enthusiasm but also to the managing director at Parkinson’s who launched this competition by doing assemblies in school and, of course, the whole team at Parkinson’s who we have worked with throughout this academic year.”
